Bucheon Civic Chorale

The Bucheon Civic Chorale, which was established in 1988, leads the chorale music field with its new and wide-ranging repertoire.

The Chorale has received praise for understanding music deeply through their excellent capabilities. They especially perform opera choruses with rich volume and strong expressiveness, which enabled them to be invited to various operas such as “The Bat,” “The Magic Flute,” “A Masked Ball,” “La Boheme,” and “The Elixir of Love.” The Chorale has performed Mahler’s Symphony No.2 “The Resurrection Symphony,” Mahler’s Symphony No. 3” and “Tannhauser Opera Concertante” with the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra. The Chorale performs Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 every year.

The Bucheon Civic Chorale has performed with world renowned chorale conductors such as Ludmilla Yermakova from Russia, William Denning, Joseph Flummerfelt, Jerry McCoy from the U.S., and Martin Behrmann from Germany. They have also performed overseas for example, at Bakersfield, U.S., from 2014 to 2016.

Even today, the Chorale is making an effort to move their audience’s hearts in new ways. They perform programs that encompass all ages and preferences, such as “The Series of Great Composer,” which sheds a spotlight on composers that left their mark in history, the “Concert for Children,” the “Family Opera,” the “Concert for the Youth” and the “Morning Concert.” Also, through programs such as the “Visiting Concert,” the “School Classic Concert,” the “Outdoor Concert” and dispatching Art Valley instructors, the Bucheon Civic Chorale is faithfully carrying out its duties of being a municipal organization that stays in tune with the citizens through active music.

The Chorale will continue to strive to become a municipal chorale that leads the Korean choral music field, communicates with the audience and creates happy society by spreading the spirit of consideration, one of the core values of chorale music.
